Voordat Wood bij dit maritiem bedrijf aan de slag ging, was hij 23 jaar in verschillende financiële functies werkzaam voor Shell. Hij werkte hier onder andere als Vice President Finance Exploration (2009 – 2012); CFO en Directeur van Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. in Japan (2012 – 2016) en als Head of M&A & Commercial Finance Upstream / Integrated Gas.

SBM ontwerpt, exploiteert en verkoopt grote installaties voor de olieindustrie. Het bedrijf is in 1965 ontstaan uit een fusie van IHC.
